Savannah/Chatham County has a broad manufacturing base with products ranging from gourmet cookies to corporate jets. Combined, the County's 226 manufacturers have a total payroll of almost $700 million and employ more than 14,000 people, making the sector highly influential and well supported by the community.

A good example of this community support is the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce's Manufacturer's Council, created specifically to protect this sector's interests and ensure recognition of manufacturers' commitment to the community.
