3 Days for AASU a huge success

Armstrong Atlantic State University has tallied up the total amount of money raised in their 3 Days for AASU campaign.
During the victory celebration on Friday, April 3, Mike Kemp, senior vice president of Synovus Trust Co. and Ann Purcell of Radiation Therapy Associates presented AASU president Thomas Z. Jones a check for $429,638. Kemp and Purcell served as campaign co-chairs.
The money will be used to support the university's scholarship programs.
"In these tough economic times, the business community in our region once again stepped up to support Armstrong Atlantic State University," said Purcell in a news release. "They understand that their financial support to AASU represents an investment that in the long term will benefit not only their businesses but the community as a whole."
Two individuals were recognized for their committment to the campaign. Danny Pinyan, president of The Pinyan Company, was honored for his ongoing allegiance. Lauren Sather of First Chatham Bank, a newcomer, recieved recognition for volunteer time contributed.
"In educating competent professionals who have a tradition of meeting the work force needs of this community, AASU has positioned itself as a strategic community partner in our region," said Kemp in a news release.
